Membership Renewal
Membership renewals in the PROBUS Club of Sidney are now being accepted. Dues are $55 per member and payable by August 31.
You may pay by (preferred) e-transfer to PROBUS Club of Sidney, sidneyprobustreasurer@gmail.com
(no security question necessary) or by cheque payable to PROBUS Club of Sidney and brought to a monthly meeting (no cash please).
By renewing your membership you are agreeing to the inclusion of your personal information (name, address, telephone number, and email address) in the Club Directory which is available to all members. You are also agreeing not to distribute or sell this Directory information to anyone or any agency and not to use the information to solicit business or for any commercial purpose.
We would appreciate knowing if for some reason you do not plan to renew your membership this year as that will assist us in knowing how many new members we can accept. We currently have openings for new members so if you know of anyone who would like to join, please have him/her request a membership application at sidneyprobusmembership@gmail.com.

PROBUS Club of Sidney Luncheon
Church and State Winery - Thursday, August 13.
12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.
Last Minute Details
Arrival Time Please do not arrive before 12:00 p.m. As we have not rented the entire Winery, there will be other folks wining and dining there so we need to keep to our scheduled time.
Parking There is ample parking on the west side of the Winery. Should that be full there is an overflow parking lot on the lower east side as you approach the Winery building.
Name Tags Remember to wear your name tag.
Reception When you enter the Winery, proceed straight ahead past the bar and wine tasting area on your left to a reception desk where Events Committee members, Marnie Dennis and ValPark, will greet you.

This is a Pileated Woodpecker that was attacking one of our trees. The Pileated Woodpecker is the largest woodpecker in North America, measuring 16 to 19 inches long with a wingspan of close to 30 inches. Their favourite meal is carpenter ants. Could have used one around the clubhouse recently.

Shaped on the Shoreline: How the Salish Sea has influenced the cultural and economic history of Sidney and North Saanich.
Sidney, famously known as Sidney by the Sea, could equally be called Sidney of the Sea. The Salish Sea has had a profound and enduring influence on the town’s founding, economy, and cultural identity. Sidney Museum Director Michael Goodchild will explore this influence. Particulars of the presentation will touch upon the Sea’s ecology, the timeless maritime culture of the WSANEC peoples of the region, early industrial maritime trade and transportation, and Sidney’s subsequent development with attention to enterprises tied to the Sea.
Presenter: Michael Goodchild, Executive Director, Sidney Museum and Archives.
Michael Goodchild has served as the executive director role since June 2022. Under his leadership, numerous major projects and initiatives have been launched, including updating the Museum's collections database, planning and implementing a variety of traveling exhibitions, and renovating the Museum's permanent galleries.
